Collection Calls and Robo Calls: FAQ

The majority of people call feeling beaten down by the calls and the debt. Everyone feels embarrassed to admit to someone, even a perfect stranger; that they are receiving collection calls. But the worst thing you can do is ignore the calls and hope it goes away.

Everyone falls behind. Whether due to school obligations, loss of a job, or an injury which causes you to fall behind - life happens.

When people ask us for help the first thing they say is - "I don't know if you can help me - I owe them the money and can't pay you."

Just because you owe an organization money does not give them the right to harass you. There are federal laws which protect consumers and cover the costs for your attorney's fees. Here are just a few laws that protect you:

  • Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA): Getting calls once or more a day? Have you told them to stop, but they are still calling? Call us! You may be eligible for $1,500.00 per call! In Georgia, you may also be eligible for free legal representation under the Georgia Fair Business Practices act!

  • Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA): Harassing or obscene language? Misleading or deceptive practices? Call us! You may be eligible for $1,000.00 and free legal representation!

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA): Has your credit been impacted by a creditor or collection agency? Has your credit been viewed without your authorization? Has your credit gone down because of it? Call us! You may be eligible for $1,500.00 and free legal representation!

In Georgia, if applicable, the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act (FBPA) will allow for trebling (3x) actual damages and free legal representation.
